Frequently Asked Question
What is a VLAN and why separate guest Wi-Fi?
Last Updated about a month ago
A VLAN splits one physical network into separate virtual networks. A common setup is one network for staff and servers, a second for guests, and sometimes a third for cameras or other devices.
Separating them means a visitor connecting to your guest Wi-Fi cannot reach your files, servers or printers, and a problem on one network does not spread to the others. It also lets you limit bandwidth for guests.
VLANs need compatible switches, routers or firewalls and correct configuration.
